Walking In A Winter Wonderland

Another lifestyle post today, I promise some beauty ones soon when I get around to taking photo's of the products!

On Saturday 7th December I took a trip to Hyde Park's 'Winter Wonderland' with a group of a friend.
Getting on the train at 10:19, we travelled to Horsham (where we had to change, silly trains!) and got on a slightly longer train journey which would take us into London Victoria.
I was very excited to go to London!
1. I love London!
and
2. It was the first time I've ever been with my friends, by ourselves.

It was so much fun!
We did the whole, 'look its the London Eye' and behaved suitably tourist like that many people would have believed we have never been to London before!
I think it was the fact that we were doing it all together which made us a bit overexcited.

From London Victoria we took the tube (a very squished one) to Green Park, and took a 10 minutes walk to Winter Wonderland.
It was much prettier than I had expected.
The Christmas market went on for ages, the area was bustling with people buying Christmas items, and the sweet smell of mulled wine and hot chocolate filled the air.
For me (a very small person) it is often not fun being in a crowded situation, but although I was in the centre London and I did think I'd lost my friends a couple of time, I didn't really panic and actually really enjoyed the crowded atmosphere.

We went to the Ice Skating at 2:30 to start our session at 2:45, although the skates were uncomfortable, by the time I had got on the ice I forgot about most of it and just had fun skating around on the ice (and I didn't fall over!)
The ice rink was so pretty. There was a net of fairly lights hanging above and Christmas music playing in the bandstand in the centre, and as it got dusky everything just got more fun as the lights finally had an effect.
I must say the lights at Winter Wonderland are amazing!

It was a fun day and I came away with a few Christmas purchases (I'm not ashamed).
First of all I bought two cute Christmas candles which come in a little jar (one has snowmen on and one has santa), who add to my Christmas decorations on my mantlepiece, along with my glass Christmas tree decoration which I have blogged about in a previous post here. Finally I bought some delicious fudge!

It was such a fun day out and I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about going!
I hope you enjoy the pictures.

25 Days Of Blogging | Days 9,10 and 11!

Hello!
I'm back again with another combined post, hooray!

Us Last Christmas!
Day 9: Easiest Person To Buy For?

This one is definitely simple, my sister. We're only 3 years apart and she's so similar to me, I can buy her anything from books to makeup and she'll love it because we just have the same taste in everything! I'm very lucky because of this as this means that whatever I get her I usually like and can also use too (hehe!)

Day 10: Favourite Holiday Scent

I don't really change my scent up that much, boring! I like to use Taylor Swift Wonderstruck most of the time, and I guess it could be Christmassy?!

Day 11: Favourite Christmas Tradition

My family doesn't really have specific traditions, but the things we do we repeat every year so I guess they could be called traditions! One thing we do which I really enjoy is that in the morning/after lunch my Mum's family come round (or we go to them sometimes!) and then in the evening my Dad's family come around. I really enjoy this as it means that it mixes up the whole day by seeing new people, and it also spreads out the presents hehe!

Thankyou for sticking with me when I'm so bad with these posts, I will be trying really, really hard to commit myself to these posts but I have a lot of mocks at college coming up so I will be focusing on them. I can't wait until the 20th when I break up from college and can properly get in the Christmas mood!

25 Days Of Blogging | Days 6,7 and 8!

Hello!
A bit of a combined post today as I really am trying to catch up on what I've missed, this time of year is just so busy!

Day 6: Your Favourite Tree Ornament/ Christmas Ornament

As I may have mentioned in a previous post I went to Winter Wonderland at the weekend, and my favourite ornament at the moment is actually one which I bought there! It is made of glass, with even little ornaments hanging off of the glass christmas tree. It may be small but its certainly very cute and looks nice in the living room at the moment!

Day 7: Your Most Memorable Christmas

I think my most memorable Christmas was probably when both pairs of my Grandparents visited. It was so important to me at the time to have them all there and seeing them all at such a special time was amazing.

Day 8: Post A Picture Of Christmas Decor

There you go! That is a bauble on my Christmas tree!
It has a red and gold theme this year and I really like it.

Sorry these are short posts but I'm just trying to get through the days I keep missing!

25 Days Of Blogging | Day 6: Your Favourite Tree Ornament/ Favourite Christmas Ornament

Hello!

I thought I'd do this cover note for now, but I'm actually planning on doing this blog post tomorrow when I am able to take a photo of my Christmas ornaments as now its dark and the lighting for the photographs would be DREADFUL.

I also changed the title slightly as we have repetitive tree decorations of all the same baubles, so we don't really have any individual tree ornaments for me to prefer?!

So for that reason I am going to choose my favourite christmas ornament/ decoration.
If I am not able to take the photo tomorrow I will definitely slot it in somewhere by simply editing this post so they all stay in order.

If you have been reading '25 Days Of Blogging' please let me know in the comments!

Also, tomorrow I am going to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park so I will snap a few pictures on my phone and add an extra blog post here, as it is very exciting and I am going ice skating!

See you tomorrow, bye!

25 Days Of Blogging | Day 5: Best Gift You've Ever Received

Hello!

I'm certainly stuck on writing about this topic, as I have received so many beautiful and amazing things over the years that I really do not know what to chose.

I don't think I can pick one gift because everything means something different to me, and some things which used to be the height of my desire would now not phase me. I guess what I'm saying is that the animal crossing set I asked for when I was 8 would not really be of any use to me now.

I think one of the things which sticks in my head was a charm bracelet my Grandma got for me a couple of Christmases ago. It is silver, and she got me 5 charms to go with it also.

Another thing I remember as a good gift was the year I got an iPod touch for Christmas. It was 1st generation, pretty good at the time! I can remember playing on it all day and it was so entertaining as it was the first iPod or technological thing that I had really ever had.
I think my Dad put Taylor Swift 'Love Story' on it, as well as the music video, and I think I listened for it for the whole day straight just because I looked super cool with my headphones and I finally felt that I had something which was individual to me and I could do on my own.

I guess what I'm saying is that you can never define the best gift you've ever received. For me, the best gifts I've had hold memories in them which I can recall and write down here.
What seemed so good at the time because of its worth is actually more important because of what it means now!

Whoops I got deep.
Oh well!

I'll see you all in a minute with my last post for today, my fingers are getting exhausted!

25 Days Of Blogging | Day 4: Favourite Christmas Song

Hello again!

Today's topic is my favourite Christmas song, but how can I possibly choose! They're all so good, and I believe that Christmas music is probably one of my favourite features of the Christmas period!

As I have to kind of select one (I'm being restrictive on my festive tune affection) I'm going to choose the one that I've been singing a lot recently already this year, which is Christmas (Baby please come home) by Mariah Carey.

I know she isn't the original recorder of the song, but her version is definitely my favourite.
It's repetitive, catchy, upbeat and basically everything you can want from a Christmas song, as everyone can sing along and join in as the chorus progresses.

This blogging is definitely getting me excited for Christmas and all the lovely tunes which get overplayed the closer you get!

25 Days Of Blogging | Day 3: When/how did you learn that Santa wasn't real?

Hello!
Today's topic is quite a short one to discuss.

I don't ever think there was one moment where my parents turned around to me and said 'Santa is not real', and I kind of liked this way. I think they just left it for me to mature and experience the views of others, and they waited for when I was ready to kind of joke with them about it and then they knew.
I kind of appreciate the fact that there wasn't just suddenly one day when their could of been a possibility that I did still believe in him, as I think that that would have been a lot harsher on me, and discovering it my own way was a good idea.
But secretly I'm still hoping that one day he does turn out to be real, I think the idea stays with us so long that all we can do is believe and have fun with the idea!

I'm trying to cram 3 blog posts into one night tonight by the way, so I'm sorry if they are a bit shorter as I'm kind of rushing to get them done as I've been having a chilled/relaxed/christmassy evening.
ONLY 2 WEEKS LEFT OF COLLEGE!

Bye for now!

25 Days Of Blogging | Day 2: Your 2013 Christmas Wish List

Hello!
Todays topic is 'Your 2013 Christmas Wish List', so I thought I would write about a couple of gifts I would like to receive at Christmas, and then also write a post closer to Christmas about a couple of gift ideas that I think are good to buy other!
My Wish list (excuse the product images)

Urban Decay NAKED Palette, £30

I have never really experimented with eyeshadow before (I only own a few) so I thought asking for a really simple palette like this would allow me to experiment with eyeshadow before maybe starting to build up my own MAC palette etc.

Petite Biker Jacket, £45

I have been after a leather jacket for a long time, and when I saw this one in Topshop I fell in love. Plus, its been reduced from £58, what more could I want?

Daisy Spot Tunic Dress, £42

I think this dress would look really nice paired with the denim jacket above. I've fallen in love for it and its one of the things I want the most. I love the pattern and the fact that its very monotone but also has colours from the daisies. I like to wear dresses with jackets and tights rather than jeans because it feels more girly and I just like that!

Lorde, Pure Heroine, £8.99

I have listened to this album countless times on spotify and would just love to
own it. I'm not quite sure what it is about her music but I just find it really catchy and it just sounds perfect.

So that's just a couple of things that come off the top of my head. Being an obsessed book reader half of my Christmas list consists of books which I am really interested to read, so I am thinking of doing a seperate post to talk about them.

Thankyou for reading, bye!

25 Days Of Blogging | Day 1: Your Favourite Christmas Movie

Hello!
Today's topic is 'Your Favourite Christmas Movie', and I've got two to share with you.

The Polar Express:
The Polar Express, is the kind of film which you can watch at any age just because of how cute it is. It is basically the story of a train which takes children to the North Pole on Christmas Eve to watch Santa take off to deliver the presents, and what mischief they get into! The thing I really like about it is the fact that the film is a cartoon but very realistic, and everything just seems to be so visual that the film doesn't feel too childlike. It gets me in the Christmas spirit so its something I like to watch a lot in the Christmas season, especially around the time when you've broken up from school/college and you can finally focus on becoming completely excited!

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation:
This is a classic Christmas comedy which I can guarantee most people will love. It was initially released in 1989 so some of the fashions are a bit dodgy, but its still funny every year I watch it and I love to sit down and watch it with friends/family, as you can all laugh at it together!  The story is basically about a family who are celebrating Christmas, but obviously lots of stuff goes wrong and some bits really do make me laugh!

So thats it for my Favourite Christmas Movie post, Day 1 of '25 Days Of Blogging', a challenge I'm doing which you can read about in my previous post here. Join in, and tag me in your posts on twitter ( @laurenjanegeall) so I can read them! I'd love to hear some suggestions!

See you soon with Day 2 because I'm trying to catch up for the fact I started 4 days late!
Bye!

News, news, news!

Hello all.
I want to do a chatty post.
I feel like I want to chat ( and plus, if I say we're going to have a chat, you don't really have a choice, do you!? )
NEWS.

Basically an update of my life I guess.
Firstly, it is getting ever closer to the release of the Catching Fire movie, and I cannot express my excitement after waiting a year and a half since the last movie (come on Lionsgate).
Let's just say I'm a fan. I read the books (more than once sorry), watched the movie and followed/tweeted/instagrammed the cast enough so that I can proudly own that title.
And yes when people try to say they are a better fan they will find out they shouldn't of said it.

Next up!
I'm going to see the RED Taylor Swift tour in February.
Very excited, very happy (thanks to my friend's Dad for buying tickets!)
I have loved Taylor Swift for a long time *queue directioner attack* but don't worry I like One Direction too.
I'm not a super-fan of her personality as I think it has changed quite a bit now that she has gained fame (but of course it was going to happen), but I super love her music and am most excited for her performance as she definitely puts on a show!

In other lifestyle news.
I'm really working on my A-Levels in preparation for university application next year- scary stuff!
I'm currently looking for any journalistic/english related opportunities and any books you could suggest, so if you hear of any comment them or e-mail me at loza08@btinternet.com because I really would like to hear of anything I can do.

Until tomorrow!

Quick Beauty Update

Hello.

I didn't want to fail on my first day of my 'new' posting schedule but lets say I'm halfway there (I forgot to take some photos to add to this blog, thats me!) so I'm going to be using internet photos for this one: sorry for the pain.

------------
It's becoming Autumn.
Slowly but surely the leaves are beginning to fall off the trees and all that jazz, and this is the time of year when I want to maybe mix up the colours I've been wearing on my lips/blush for the summertime and maybe tone it down again for the colder months.
So I decided to make this quick list of my top 3 Autumn lip products (that I already own, it's kind of like a shop my stash!)

I've already raved about this don't hold me to it, but this peachy lipstick by Loreal is my definite favourite for the autumn months. I feel like peach is such a gorgeous autumn colour and really suits the more flushed complexion you might receive when the weather gets a bit colder.
around £8- any drug store

This time it's matte. Bright red is another colour which I love, love, love to wear when the weather is a bit colder/absolutely miserable, as it totally brightens things up when everything is all grey. The red lipstick I have is the Kate Moss lasting finish matte lipstick from Rimmel London, in the shade 111, which on the website doesn't look bright (trust me in real life it is). I'm also really interested in buying the shade 107 as I think a darker red is also great for Autumn.
£5.49- any drug store

So many people have talked about these and I'm afraid I'm about to follow the trend (well not follow, I've had these for a while!)
The Apocalips Lip Lacquer by Rimmel London is perfect for long wear lip colour which has the shine of a lipgloss whilst having the pigmentation of a lipstick. What more can you ask for? I have the shades Luna and Celestial but I am certainly interested in buying more!
£5.99- any drug store

-------------------
So there we go.
Top three.
The ones that made the cut.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post, if I enlightened you about a new product or maybe you want to suggest a product to me, leave it in the comments, I'm always open to suggestions!

See you soon,
Lauren!

Update!

Hello.
I'm so frustrated with my lack of posting.
That sounds silly though.
Most of you will be thinking, 'Why Lauren, that's your fault!', and indeed it is.

I love blogging.
Taking the photos, editing them, composing the words- it's something I want to do in the future!
So why can't I commit to it?

So I'll try and start anew.
Who knows, maybe I'll start to gain some more readers?!
My stats show me that I have at least 3 page views a day (and that's certainly not me looking at it because I haven't in a month.)
So if you're reading, please drop me a comment, or tweet me on @laurenjanegeall on twitter, just to let me know what you think about the content I'm producing and how it can be improved etc.

Sorry for the rant!

Now for a kind of schedule I want to stick to; notice the word kind as lets be honest I will never 100% stick to a schedule!
I want to still write about beauty, but I would also like to write about fashion, music, and more lifestyle/chatty posts.

Tuesday: My staple post day.
I'll make sure that if I don't post any when else, I'll post on this day once a week.

Wednesday: Beauty product of the week.
I use a lot of products and buy lots of things (I swear I have an obsession whoops) so I might as well tell you about them because otherwise I'm just spending lots of money!

Friday: Fashion, fashion, fashion!
Everything fashion. I love it.

Sunday: Lifestyle
= week in summary, news, updates, reviews, stuff.

See you tomorrow!
Lauren.

Holiday in the Sun

Dear people of the internet,
Hello again!
I've been so busy with summer related activities that I keep forgetting that I'm committing myself to a blog.
But don't worry, soon the typical English autumn will arrive and I can assure you that I will have plenty of rainy, miserable evenings where I will put off studying for blogging (because who prefers studying over the internet.)

This summer I took my holiday on the gorgeous island of Malta.
Malta is an island in the Mediterranean (thankyou autocorrect) with beautiful coastlines and an Italian style culture which I enjoy (especially the pizza.)
This was my 5th year in Malta and one of my favourites, as I haven't been on a 'warm' holiday in so long, as last year we went to Cornwall in the summer and then took an Autumn break in New York (hurricanes are no fun.)

We stayed in St Julians Bay at the Hilton Hotel Malta.
Here are some photos I took during our stay:

Where did you go on holiday?
I'd love to know in the comments!

Summer Tag

Dear people of the internet,
I'm sorry to have let my posting schedule slack again, whoops!
I have had this post scheduled since the end of the month, but I am going to post it today anyway instead of an OOTD which I should usually be doing on Tuesdays!

This is the summer tag. Basically I'm going to answer a number of season related questions about beauty and other things, hope you like it!

1. Favourite summer nail polish

This colour is a gelly nail paint by Barry M in the colour 'Lychee'. I have really been enjoying the gelly nail paints recently because they are so easy to apply and long lasting, as well as being ultra shiny. This shade is a kind of beige colour, and I also added some Barry M 'Rose Quartz Glitter' on my ring finger for a feature nail.

2. Favourite lip colour

My favourite lip colour this season is a 'color riche' lipstick from L'oreal Paris in shade 380, 'Luminous Coral'. I love all the lipsticks from this range ( I've bought three whoops!), and even though they could be said as expensive for a drug store brand ( £8.19 for one ) I think they are totally worth it as they are super pigmented and give a glossy finish, which is the kind of look I really like a lipstick to give. They also don't dry my lips out at all and moisturise them really well, so thats good as in the summer the beach and pool can really dry them out!
Luminous Coral: http://www.loreal-paris.co.uk/cosmetics/lips/color-riche/380-luminous-coral.aspx

3. Favourite summer dress

I can't find a picture of my favourite dress and it is currently in the wash, but I do know that it is still available in stores. I bought this dress from New Look ( Generation section ) last week. The dress is a skater dress, a wash blue colour with white lace cutout at the waistline. If I find a picture I will write another blog with it, as I believe it is a gorgeous dress really appropriate for a casual summer style!

4. Favourite summer accessory

At the moment my favourite summer accessory is this necklace I recently purchased from Accessorize. I had seen a lot of people wearing these kind of necklaces and wanted to see how it looked, and I can say that it suits just about any outfit because of its neutral gold colour, and I can totally see this being casual and used in a formal situation! This was £8.

5. Summer trends you are most excited about

This summer I am most excited about the skater skirt/dress look. I really love the way it brings in your waist and hangs around your hips! The dresses are also perfect for being casual or formal, and I love a fashion which can do that.

6. Favourite fragrance

My favourite fragrance at the moment I received as a christmas present, the Wonderstruck perfume by Taylor Swift. I really love the smell as it has a fresh smell which is appropriate for summer!

7. Favourite face product

I bought this moisturiser by Garnier to go on holiday and began using it a bit earlier than expected, whoops! At first I bought the moisturiser as an ultra-hydrating one for when I go on holiday, as the pool can sometimes completely strip my skin and leave it feeling horrible, yuck! I gave it a try at home before I left, and have actually discovered that it has made a difference to the way my skin feels. My skin is dry to combination skin, so obviously I worried that this moisturiser may be too hydrating for my skin originally, but actually it works wonders and smells nice!
Moisture Match: http://www.garnier.co.uk/_en/_gb/moisture-match/product-page.aspx#goodbye

8. Go-to summer hairstyle

Because my hair is naturally straight with a slight wave, my go-to summer hairstyle is often just to simply blow-dry it and leave it be, or use hair slides to clip it to the sides!

9. What is the weather like

I live in England so basically you can never tell!

10. Favourite thing about summer

My favourite thing about summer is the variety of shoes which you can wear. Sandal heels are a definite for when I go on holiday. The other day I bought this pair from New Look, which I feel have a bit of a vintage feel, with the colour of the leather and the wide straps- I'm so excited to wear them!
New Look: http://www.newlook.com/shop/shoe-gallery/view-all-shoes/tan-low-rise-wedge-sandals_282036818

I hope you enjoyed this summer tag post. If you would like to tell me any of your answers please comment as I would love to know what you guys are using and wearing this summer!

Time for a Wedding!

Wednesday: Fashion
Dear people of the internet,

Recently I purchased an item which cannot be ignored.
My Auntie is getting married very soon (well actually November!) so I'd thought I'd start preparing as I'm going to be a kind of 'bridesmaid' role, even though there is no co-ordinated dresses as the wedding is entirely informal and intimate, with a couple of family members invited.

I had had my eyes set on a dress in Topshop for a while.
It is actually a bit daring for me, as even though I would class myself as having quite a girly, pretty fashion sense, I usually wouldn't go for items which are very pink or purple.
This dress is gorgeous.
It's short, just above the knee, and has a skater type skirt which I'm really loving at the moment, as its pretty and formal; perfect for a wedding.

The dress itself is a peachy coloured pink, with thread patterns making flowers all the way over. It has two layers, one the peach material and the other the lace which has the flowers sewn into it.

The real reason I bought the dress is actually the best thing about it.
Obviously because its from Topshop I was ready to acknowledge the fact that the dress was entirely out of my price range and so my thinking of buying it was ridiculous.
Thank God for sales!

The dress itself had started off at £48, then reduced to £25, and finally to £15, which I personally thought was a steal!
Find it here.

It looks gold here but it's not!

What do you guys think of the dress? Do you love the satisfaction of a bargain?
I'd love to know in the comments!

Prom Night

Tuesday: Lifestyle Post
Dear internet friends,
Today is the day of the week for a lifestyle post, so I thought I'd write about a recent big event in my life, my high school Prom.

My Prom was on the 28th of June, at a racecourse not far from my house. My high school was an all girls school, but for the night we mixed with our neighbouring boys high school.
The night was amazing. (I'll slot some photos in here somewhere)
I wore a navy blue dress, with appliqué jewels around the waist and neckline. My make-up was simple, a light cheek and lip with a dark eyeliner and shimmery eyeshadow. I also did some darker blending in the crease of my eye!
My hair was also quite simple, as I had a waterfall braid around one side of my hair, and the other side pinned back. The rest of my hair was mostly straight with some natural, soft waves.

My nails matched my dress, navy with diamond sparkles lining the top.

My Dad took me and my friend in his convertible, as we played 'Girls just want to have fun'. It was great! All my friends looked absolutely gorgeous. We had an after party at my friends house and then slept over, ready for a barbecue the next day with all our families. It was absolutely lovely!

Prom was the most amazing experience and probably the most memorable of this year!
Love From
Lauren!

I'm back!

Dear internet friends,
I'm back!
I kind of went on a little (big) break. My exams ended and I kind of just stopped caring about many things and rejoiced in my new found freedom!
Finally my newbie period is complete and I can start to set myself a schedule of blogging, finally.
I'm going to start a routine.
I hope you will enjoy the new weekly pattern I want to introduce, as it will have a more organised feel and you guys will know when I'm going to upload.

My schedule will be:

Tuesday: Lifestyle Post
This post will be a little bit about what I'm doing in my life! It will also give you guys a chance to tell me a little bit about what you're getting up too, so we can all get to know each other better and keep up to date with our lives! (I promise I will try to do some exciting things!)

Wednesday: OOTD (Season Inspired)
This is a fashion inspired post, so I will be posting my outfit suggestions for that time of the year, or be telling you guys about a new fashion product which I may have purchased, or even a haul post.

Friday: Weekly Review
I will review a bit about what I have been doing that week and update you guys about my product use/fashion buys etc.

Saturday: Beauty Day!
On this day I will be talking about any new products I am enjoying, or review any products you guys want me too! (Request in comments)

I also want to get into a routine of certain dates every month. On the 1st of every month I will try to update you guys about what posts/activities I will be doing that month so you guys will know what I will be up too. I would also like to talk about some things which I am interested in trying/reviewing etc.
On the 30th of every month I will do a favourites post for that month or a season tag depending on the month in question!

I hope you guys think this is a good idea?
If you have any suggestions on how I could improve my posting schedule, please tell me in the comments.
Any requests will be read!
Thankyou!

Love Lauren.

Freedom

Hello there people of the internet!
So last week I said I was going to write about my school leaving experience, but I've delayed it bit until now (sorry!)
The day was actually so lovely and even though some tears were inevitably shed (including me wah) everyone had a really lovely day and enjoyed sharing in memories of our 5 years at high school. I want to thank everyone for such an amazing day and 5 years at school, so many people have made it such a memorable experience, and I will remember so many people!

Below are some pictures of the day taken by some of my friends (sorry if one of the photos are yours!)

I will miss everyone <3
